How to wear a hat without looking like a freak?

Posted on November 17th, 2009 by admin

I’ve recently fell in love with hats. I love big pretty hats, bonnets, fedoras, female bowler hats etc. I’m 19 so how can I wear these hats without looking like a freak of nature? I’m a university student and I’m not rich so I can’t get away with the "Haute couture look" Also where can I buy inexpensive fedorah hats?

If your hair is long, I find it’s best to wear hats with curls or waves. they flow out from the bottom and give good balance. Plus, it’s very feminine.

I can’t give you exact links, but you maybe want to go to etsy and search up vintage fedorahs. If you don’t mind they’re worn before, because they usually sell at a much cheaper price.

Add: Fedorahs usually look fine with most hair styles, and I’ve seen people match it up with just a blouse/top, pants/bermudas, and they sure don’t look like freaks. As long as you choose the things that can go along well with each other, you should be fine.

Thrift shops. They carry those old fedoras no one buys.

To not look like a freak, buy something well, modern. It doesn’t have to be modern per say, but have a timeless look to them like bowler hats or something.
