I'm not sure about the BX but on some vehicles you can either remove the radiator grille to access the back of the latch or sometimes you can reach up into the engine bay and pull the cable outer. If the lever inside the car is springing back then you may be able to remove the cable from the lever and pull it with a pair of pliers. Good luck, I know this can be really annoying.
References :
I think you want to know about your vehicle. You have to read manual of your vehicle. Go to the following site. Click on the e- book section and then find automobile manual. Apart fro this you can go to the magazine section as well for finding different magazines related to automobile.

After that refer this site to others from your word of mouth . So that your others can also be benefitted from this website.
Have A Nice Day
Bye
References :
http://www.vinayakalibrary.i8.com

if the cable has stretched the red handle under the wheel will not release the bonnet to allow catch at the front to work .when you pull the red one the bonnet should pop up about an inch if it dont get someone to lean on the bonnet while you pull the red leaver this takes the pressure off the catch and sometimes allows the stretched cable to work if you get it open fit a new cable
References :
own a zx
