    That’s beautiful …
    That’s beautiful playing.

It’s “The Campbells are Coming”, not “The Cambels are Coming”.

(Not to quibble, though. Great playing! ^_^)

(There’s a Mary Stewart book in which a character says, on seeing camels approaching, “The camels are coming, yo-ho, yo-ho.” ^_~)

(Sorry, I just like to joke a little every now and then. ^_^)

  3. Lord Lovat, however …
Lord Lovat, however, ignored these orders and Millin, aged 21, played “Hielan’ Laddie” and “The Road to the Isles” as his comrades fell around him on Sword Beach[3]. As German soldiers later attested, they did not target Millin because they believed him to be mad.[4][5]

  4. Millin is most …
Millin is most famous for being one of the few[citation needed] pipers to play during a World War II battle. Pipers had traditionally led Scottish troops into battle[2] however the death toll among pipers in World War I was so high that the practice was banned by the British high command.

  5. Bill Millin, born …
Bill Millin, born 1923[1], commonly known as Piper Bill, was personal piper to Lord Lovat, commander of 1 Special Service Brigade at D-Day.

My late dad took part in the D Day Landings with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers in 1944.

He spoke highly of English mates as well, Yates.

This was their marching song. He told me the pipes took a scared Scots soldier into a different world. Took away their fears and led them into battle with Scotland on their lips.

This is very aggressive music and should scare most enemies I think. Didn’t scare the farmers at Kringen in Norway 1612 though. Against the professional Scottish soldiers. No actually, I am sorry about the people that died. But the Scots were on their way to Sweden, and then to attack the Norwegians together with the Swedes.
