What is a proper way to plant a seed?(blue bonnets and blue colombines)?
I usually plant seeds about a quarter inch under the dry soil….only 2 plants have grown so far…is there a better method?
straight into the soil

The rule of thumb is to plant the seed to the depth of the size of the seed.
Columbine seeds are small, so they should be covered only with a very thin layer of peat or potting soil. If you bury them in dirt they may not make it to the surface.

I don’t know if it’s better, but I use those Jiffy Peat Pellets. They’re great! I find things sprout so much faster in them. Especially when you use the little ‘greenhouse’ you get from Jiffy.
You can get the ‘greenhouse’ at WalMart for about $5 that has the peat pellets in it and full instructions.
Put it this way, I planted radishes using Jiffy Pellets, and they sprouted within 24 hours!!!
Good luck!
