Where can I get scotch bonnet peppers?
I need some peppers for jerk chicken. In the milwaukee area? If not, Chicago/northern illinois area? Not looking for habaneros. Got the pimento sticks, wood chips, leaves and berries-going for authenticity. Not in sauce or dried form-need the actual peppers. Anywhere to get them online?
No, scotch bonnets and habaneros are NOT the same. Like I said, going for authenticity. Not just looking for spice out of the peppers, looking for the added flavor they bring as well.
Scotch bonnets and habaneros are NOT the same thing but they are close enough to substitute.
Try a Mexican grocery. I wonder if there is a grocer that carries them near where a restaurant I used to like called "Sabina’s" is there?
I wouldn’t think you would have to resort to online or Chicago.
Do you have Trader Joe’s? They might have them.
Scotch bonnet and habaneros are the same thing meaning they can be used interchangeably.
do you have any Caribbean stores in your area?
Also, will you be sure that the pepper you’re getting is not a habanero?

Go to your Caribbean grocery…probably near Puertoriquenos near you (Puerto Rican ladies and gentlemen)…they may have some at the West African grocery too.
Or order online…search engine…

I have seen them at larger asian markets. Not to be stereotypical, but Koreans have a thing for hot food and the scotch bonnet is at the top.
I was going through a hot pepper phase and found most of my "fix" at Korean groceries.
