   Could be the starter motors jammed. A continuous noise means the batteries still got a charge in it. Have you tried bump starting it by pushing and using clutch and gears. If it starts this way then you will need a new motor

   the starter is jammed, turn it off, on a flat surface with handbrake off, put it in reverse gear then try to push it forward and backwards to release the starter, put handbrake on, then switch on and try again

   Do you mean the starter spins happily away without engaging? It’s stuck, can sometimes be freed with a judicious tap.

   Snapped cambelt can allow the engine to spin real fast.
