It used to be the rotor arm but I'm not sure if modern cars still have them.

It depends on how old your car is but I think you mean the rotor arm. We remove ours when we take our Morris Minor to rallies… We don’t want her stolen

it's called a rotor arm, which distributes the spark to all four plugs in sequence, via the distributor cap, the king lead which goes from the cap to the coil also achieves this, but most of these things have been superseded by electronic ignition nowadays, the immobiliser is a transponder on the steering column, and the vehicle won't start unless the chip in the ignition key is within a set distance of it.
