Carbon fiber products on a car?

Posted on November 25th, 2009 by admin

I own an Acura Integra and was looking at lightening up the car by adding some carbon fiber products
i have read that CF hoods/bonnets are illegal except for ADR approved ones
What about doors, trunks, mirrors etc?
do they need to be ADR approved?
Thanks

Yes, All Carbon Fibre panels (hood, bonnet, trunk, fenders, doors, etc) that are aftermarket parts must comply to ADRs rules……………….

Which is better in terms of looks and quality for a 2006 wrx bonnet? Seibon carbon fiber bonnet or Varis carbon fiber bonnet? Link 1: Seibon , Link 2 Varis

I like Seibon hood. But VIS racing also has a nice hood.
For a good place to purchase one of this items, is at Noah automotive specialties.com. They also sell on eBay and amazon, but the prices seem to be better on their web site( some of the images are missing on the web site but they are working on it, web site is new) Great prices, and website price includes shipping if you live in the US 48 states. If not just email them and they will send you the correct price with shipping to where you live. I’ll include the pictures i found and the web address.

Welcome to the world of owning carbon fiber. The part that most people don’t investigate, before they spend the money on it.

Carbon fiber fades, and yellows. With enough use, it will also warp.

This is the payoff you get for having a cosmetically nice, but otherwise pointless hood.

It’s not the coating, it’s the carbon fiber itself that is fading. You cannot make it stand out again.

Kinda like paint. You can put a nice coat of wax over faded paint. And it will still be faded paint.
