Why would you want to put a bonnet on a boy. If you must put a hat on his head, you might try decorating a straw hat or something. Please don't embarrass him.
References :
How about a cowboy hat to start.
Buy a low temp glue gun
I would put some green grass around the hat
then I would get a large choc easterbunny
and glue it in the front. Maybe some Little chicks and small colored malted eggs and
glue them in between the chicks.

I saw this great idea some other mom had
shared Hi, I'm not particularly artistic BUT.... my son is in reception year also, and I also had to make a easter bonnet with him. We actually did it in half term, I basically got some card and made it like a top hat, covered it with tin foil. Then my son has made a easter egg and coloured it in, a chick that he has stuck screwed up yellow tissue paper on (wobbly eyes and a orange beak) and a back of a rabbit which he coloured in blue and attached a cotton wool ball as a tail and we stuck all this on the side of the hat. The rabbit I stuck on two straws so it looked like whiskers!!! I have also bought some yellow chicks that we are going to glue on top of the hat!!! The rabbit is slightly bigger than the hat so the ears appear higher, the chick and the egg are slightly smaller so they fit nicely to the side. We are going to do some little chicks pictures and stick them on also. TO BE HONEST WITH YOU IT WAS HARD WORK MAKING THE TOP HAT, IT LOOKED A LOT EASIER THAN IT WAS! LOL! I did have to make easter bonnets the past two years (once in playschool and another in Nursery!) They were simpler, the first year was a like a indian headress but with two ears (instead of feathers), and then we decorated the headband with chicks and eggs etc. Then last year same sort of thing but I put crepe paper to make the headband more of a hat (it's hard to explain!) then we shredded up crepe paper and put on top like a nest, with playdough eggs and some bought chicks (which by the time they were stuck looked like dead chicks..lol!)

Maybe a top hat and have a bunny coming out of the top. that would be really cute
Happy Easter......
References :
I vote for Bonnie B's idea (see below) -a Top Hat with Rabbit coming out of the top!

...though nothing beats the Bird's Nest / Crown of Thorns idea! It so smoothly blends the secular and the sacred sides of Easter.

Take the term "Easter Bonnet" lightly.
Think along the lines of spring headgear.
References :
Easter bonnet Ideas for little boy

A beanie would be fun, even without the propeller. Measure his head up and over the crown as well as around. Use these measurements (and a calculator, if you're like me) to determine the size of the pieces you'll need. There should be 6 or 8 'puffy' triangles, that is triangles with slightly rounded sides and bottoms. They'll look like straight lines once they're on a human head. Felt is great beanie material, and can be sewn by hand or by sewing machine. Put a fun button in the center where all the pieces meet. This hides any imperfections there.

Another idea your 3-yr-old might like is a foam visor. You can get a foam visor at a crafts store, and get little foam cutouts -- just glue them on -- in fun themes. He'd be able to do this himself and would enjoy having a fun hat. You can also glue those little foam cutouts onto a plain baseball cap if he'd prefer that.

Any hat that's shiny-new will be nice enough for Easter, regardless of its type.
