Two Types of Validity
There are two types of validity being mentioned in the manual; content and construct validity. Although former one was not supported by statistical data, the latter one, construct validity, is explained in details and given importance and also supported by statistical data mainly correlations. As indicated earlier, Inventory for Counseling and Development has 23 scales and evidence for construct validity is given scale by scale, by presenting tables depicting correlation coefficients.
Content Validity: In the manual, content validation was given as the judgment of experts whose professional opinions clarify that the content of an instrument is appropriate for its intended use. Therefore, items were written with the goal of having content appropriate to the measurement of widely accepted clinical and personality constructs.
