Verbal Communication Is Key
Throughout this project, students are required to communicate verbally. The butcher paper activity requires them to communicate with each other on how many in the tens and ones place. This is followed by the 100’s chart activity. The teacher can and will ask: why or how they came up with a particular number?, what number is in the tens and ones place?, and how is this number presented with unifix cubes. In the dice activity, the students talk to work out a system. The record of action is considered the written communication. The students record the outcome of the dice activity.
