Getting hassled by car insurace company?
Two years ago my car was stolen, a month ago I had my car stolen again and this time they torched it. The Detective that is working the case doesn’t believe we had anything to do with it. The State Police Dept Fire Policeman investigating doesn’t believe we are involved.
They have a suspect that they are looking into (But it is a long shot)
Anyway. Now the insurance company sent our case to a Special Investigator. The insurance woman told me this morning it was because of discrepancies in my statement. She talked to me once so I don’t know how she can have discrepancies. They make me feel like a criminal. They don’t think about the fact that I have put 10000 into the car already and that I will be losing money on this car even if they give me top dollar for the car. My child’s favorite toy was in the car, and my camera was in the car. Along with my daughter’s sun bonnet and a picture of my son on his first roller coaster ride. Two car seats and my double stroller. (we had just gotten back from vacation) Has anyone go through this before, worked in insurance etc. The police detective told me that they can’t charge me with fraud that only the police or the insurance administration and that they would go with what the detective said. Why are they doing this to us. I have comprehensive coverage. What can they gain from this.
Stolen cars always get extra special scrutiny from insurance companies, Two thefts in a short time will be even under more scrutiny. If you did nothing wrong, sit back and let the insurance company do it’s investigating.
They can gain not paying you the $ and deny your claim, insurance is a for profit industry, the less they pay out, the more they make. Stick with it and send them copies of the police report and everything if you have to, and apparently next time, get an alarm, or move! I’d be a bit suspicious too if someone got a car stolen every 2 years.

Insurance companies simply want to make a profit. Since you have had two claims in two years, the company simply wants to verify the claims are valid.
