Visit The Haleakala Volcano National Park in Maui
Many hardy hikers can easily do the crater trip in just one day. But others will have to split it up in to two days of hiking.
Fortunately there are some great alternatives to this long hike.
Visit the Hosmer Grove Natural Trail for just a half a mile of walking and get some great views of Maui’s awesome and rare bird life.
You will need your binoculars! Checkout the Maui Business Directory if you need to buy some.
Alternatively try the Halemauu Trail by walking to the Holua Cabin and back by covering only eight miles in total.
Both of these hikes are very pleasant alternatives, and they both also give you a taste of the incredible scenery on and around Haleakala.
Remember Hiking into and then back out of the Haleakala Crater is a lot of work for many.
But the sights you will see presented to you, such as rough lava flows to the very rare silversword plants, are well worth a little bit of sweat and energy.
